Collected from a local Somerset regenerative farm “ Fernhill Farm”. This fleece is from their “fleece flock” of Teeswater Bluefaced Leicester crosses . The wool has a beautiful lustre to it and is gorgeously soft with long curly locks.
I wet felt the back of the Fleece to create a soft pure wool backing that keeps the wool in its natural form and shape.
Using only water, natural soap and alot of muscle!!
During the felting process the fleece is washed and then again in a soapy bath multiple times , and then brushed carefully.
This is a wonderful alternative to a sheepskin as there is no killing, no horrible chemicals used in the tanning of the skin process and it can be washed.
Each fleece is unique in its colour and irregular in its shape.
Each rug is cleaned well multiple times in very hot water and soap, then brushed and picked out.
I cannot guarantee 100% that there will not be any tiny pieces of plant matter.
I always covered my sheep fleece with a fine muslin if I was putting tiny babies naked on to the fleece.
But i can guarantee that there are no chemicals used, unlike most sheepskins that are tanned and bleached in awful chemicals to get that super clean look.
